Good Next Steps — the Setup Checklist Explained
After creating an event, the event dashboard shows a Good next steps panel:
“To help you get started, we suggest you follow the below steps in order and check them off as you go.”
The checklist is tailored to the modules you enabled, tracks your Progress (e.g. 4/13), and disappears once every step is done. Some steps tick themselves off automatically when you create the related item; others are judgement calls you check off manually once you’ve reviewed them.
Below is every possible item, in the order it appears.
Always shown
Review system email content & configuration
Check sender details, templates, and delivery settings before people start receiving mail.
Takes you to System Emails. AccredTix sends a lot of email on your behalf — invitations, approvals, induction invites, ticket confirmations. Before any of that starts flowing, read through the default templates and make sure the wording, branding, and sign-off match your event. ✅ Checked off manually.
Review page content
Confirm portal and information pages read correctly for teams and crew.
Takes you to Pages. Team portals and public pages ship with sensible default copy, but it’s generic until you make it yours — welcome text, instructions, on-site information. Edit the embedded pages and add standalone pages if you need extra information pages. ✅ Checked off manually.
With Accreditation enabled
Change Groups Defaults
Choose which modules each group can access in the team portal.
Takes you to Settings → Groups. New groups default to every enabled module switched on. Trim that down — your Traders probably don’t need Vehicles, and Artists may only need Accreditation and Catering. Module access here controls what each group’s team contacts see in their portal. ✅ Checked off manually.
Create your pass types
Set up pass types so teams can assign the right credentials.
Takes you to Accreditation → Pass Types. Pass types (AAA, Crew Wristband, etc.) are the foundation of accreditation — you can’t allocate or issue anything without them. Configure per type whether zones, photos, or dates are required, whether passes auto-approve, and capacity limits. ✔ Ticks automatically once at least one pass type exists.
Review Accreditation settings
Review approvals and defaults before accreditation requests start.
Takes you to Accreditation → Settings. Check module preferences such as whether teams can see their allocation amounts, and review data collection settings per group. ✅ Checked off manually.
Review Event Branding
Check logos and colours used across event-facing pages.
Takes you to Settings → Branding. Upload light/dark logos, set your primary colour, and choose a page background. Everything guest- and team-facing (portals, public pages, emails) picks up this branding. ✅ Checked off manually.
Create your first team
Create a team to start organising contacts, allocations, and crew data.
Takes you to Teams. Teams are the companies and departments working your event (Production, Security, a catering supplier…). People, allocations, documents, and portal access all hang off teams. Teams are workspace-wide, so a returning supplier can be linked to next year’s event without re-creating them. ✔ Ticks automatically once at least one team is linked to the event.
With Guest List enabled
Create your ticket types
Define ticket types before allocating guest list inventory.
Takes you to Guest List → Ticket Types. Ticket types (VIP, General Admission…) define capacity, auto-approval, optional donation amounts, and email/SMS behaviour. Allocations and guests can’t be added until at least one exists. ✔ Ticks automatically.
With Catering enabled
Create your meals
Add meals and sittings so catering allocations can be set.
Takes you to Catering → Meals. Define the meals and sittings you’re serving so team allocations and meal tickets can be issued against them. ✔ Ticks automatically.
With Inductions enabled
Create your inductions
Create induction forms for people to complete before site access.
Takes you to Inductions → Forms. Build induction forms (Health & Safety, Fire Safety…) with videos, slides, quizzes, and uploads. Target them at specific groups or pass types. ✔ Ticks automatically.
Review Induction Settings
Confirm induction settings and invitations before sending forms.
Takes you to Inductions → Settings. Decide when induction invites go out (never / when a person is added / when their first pass is approved) and set up per-group email templates. ✅ Checked off manually.
With Vehicles enabled
Create your vehicle pass types
Configure vehicle pass types for expected arrivals and gate checks.
Takes you to Vehicles → Pass Types. Same idea as accreditation pass types, but for vehicles arriving on site. ✔ Ticks automatically.
With Accommodation enabled
Create your first accommodation property
Add a property before assigning room bookings and team allocations.
Takes you to Accommodation → Properties. Add hotels or other properties first; room bookings and team allocations are made against them. ✔ Ticks automatically.
How completion works
| Type | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Manual steps (the “Review…” items) | You tick them yourself once you’re happy. Your tick is saved. |
| Automatic steps (the “Create…” items) | Tick themselves as soon as the related item exists in your event. |
When every visible step is complete, the checklist marks itself finished and disappears from the dashboard, leaving you with Quick links and the live module Overview tabs.
